a series of music videos for bon iver, exclusive to itunes.
there are many examples of space, color, form, and texture throughout these videos. the video for holocene (photo 2) has examples of line with the branches and depth of field with the leading lines of the branches. the video for towers (photos 3 & 5) features many colors and a very shallow depth of field, probably because of the use of a macro lens. there are also many shapes because of the flowers and foliage. in the last video i chose, beth/rest (photos 1 & 4), symmetry is featured because of the mirror effect used on the video editing software.
there is a lot of symmetry, unity, and variety in these videos. the use of a macro lens and a mirror setting creates a sense of unity and symmetry, as well as variety in these works. the subtle colors bring out different moods to suit the music along with the videos.
these videos are both realistic and abstract. the subjects of these videos are very realistic, but the way that they were produced and edited makes it feel abstract. i feel relaxed and calm when i see these pieces; they evoke a sense of mystery and calmness. the mood is relaxed. the works don't necessarily tell a story, but they combine with the music to create a mood.
i love these videos. i would like my work to be more like this. there's a sense of mystery and the videos have a dream-like quality similar to my concentration.
